BOCA’S INAUGURAL EVENT DESCRIBES WHY LIFTING THE CITY’S BAN ON MEDICAL CANNABIS TREATMENT CENTERS IS
Updated: Feb 14, 2019
BocaCann & Extract Collective’s free event promises skeptics and activists alike a deeper understanding of the unexpected benefits of cannabis and the inevitable rise of treatment centers in Boca.

BOCA RATON, FLORIDA I January 21, 2019 –
BocaCann and Extract Cannabis Collective are local organizations determined to dispel the cannabis disinformation campaign that is prevalent in Boca and the country at large. The lineup of expert speakers for their inaugural event includes Boca business leaders, Florida’s most well-known cannabis doctors, and treatment center professionals. The night includes education as well as casual networking over hors d'oeuvres and spirits.
Speaker Mike Liss of the Boca Downtown Business Alliance is set to tackle the myth that dispensaries harm the community and economy at large. Using logic and evidence, Liss will explain how dispensaries boost local profits using the concept of “proximity shopping.” Liss will also explain why he’s confident that the current Boca City Council will lift the ban soon.
“I believe this City Council is going to change the rules because Boca is losing money and experiencing increased traffic by continuing the ban,” said Liss.
In addition to Liss, Dr. Gordon Barry, Dr. Michelle Weiner and Dr. Anya Temer will dismiss the misconception that treatment centers are dirty establishments serving even dirtier pot heads. Their talks will address the pervasive ailments and the real demographic profile of patients in need of alternatives to conventional medicine.
Dr. Barry, who serves one of largest volume of cannabis patients in Florida said that a full third of those treated have never smoked cannabis and the vast majority “do not want to get high.” Dr. Barry will reveal the true demographic of medical cannabis patients as he discusses the recent election of Nikki Fried, the pro-medical marijuana Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Event attendees will listen as Dr. Barry reveals an outlook of cautious optimism towards lifting Boca’s ban based on a Florida’s new political landscape.
The event’s panel of speakers will further dispel the myth that patients do not need treatment centers because of access to delivery services. From direct experience, the panel of experts, which includes Stephanie Kronen, Senior Physician Outreach Manager at Curaleaf will describe how dispensaries offer a purchasing experience, community atmosphere, and level of education that cannot be achieved through cannabis delivery.
Sponsors for this Event include Curaleaf, MedMen, MÜV, Trulieve, VidaCann, and ACS Laboratory.
Event support include goodies from AllStarCupcakes & Brazelia Integrative Anti-Aging Center
